...UNTIL OUR WEDDING DAY!
So I just picked my bridal portrait, helped Patrick with his reception invite, finalized my "day after" (slash first day as Mrs. M.) outfit, submitted the program verbiage and confirmed the music selections for our ceremony...and there's so much more left to do! I can't believe that all of my to-do's which I had labeled to do 'right before' are happening right now. Time is flying by even if I do feel like the work days drag on forever! :)
Patrick comes home today - hallelujah - and I am so excited to see my sweet Fiance soon. But not for long, since tomorrow is packed full of apppointments, errands, a baby shower and Megs' birthday party! Happy almost 31, Sweet Megs! I'm so excited to celebrate tomorrow night - "31 style" a little early. That reminds me...my own birthday is coming up soon. Um, hello...does anyone else think that sentence was crazy?! I know I do! What a miracle it is if I can contain myself in the weeks leading up to it and now, only because of Sweet Megs' bday, did it dawn on me that mine is around the corner. Sheez...
I will post more this weekend - with pictures from the shower, birthday party, our RINGS and more!

INVITATIONS AND MORE
Thanks to my Mom and Miss Megan, the invites are officially out- hallelujah! New Year's day was spent spellchecking, stuffing, stamping and more. With a hearty breakfast of biscuits, made-to-order eggs - a la Patrice - and mimosas, Megs and I were ready to spend the rest of the day on invitation detail while the boys played golf. [I did make the traditional cabbage and black eye peas minus fried ham for some '09 luck. Fortunately, I wasn't alone as Ryan enjoys cabbage just as much as I do!]
New Year's was tres fun. We started off the night with bites and bevs at our house and then headed to Fireside Pies for some of the best and most wonderful pizza around. Megan and I were ready for a little cat nap after we got home while the hot tub was heating up and the next thing I knew, it was 2 am and we were just waking up on the couch! Patrick and Ryan were having the best new year celebration, so at least they picked up our slack.
We're officially well on our way into the year of our wedding...with only 34 days to go. The day I thought would never get here, is finally right around the corner and not a moment too soon.
Here's to the best year yet. Here's to 2009!

We know...we're dressed similar.

PUPPIES
However much I wish they were mine, they aren't but they do need to find permanent homes! These 7 puppies and their mother, Lady, were found chained up outside and fortunately thanks to a very special lady and her family, they have a second chance at life!
There are 6 puppies available for adoption, including their mother Lady. Puppy Zeus is already spoken for and officially off the market. If you or anyone you know is interested in adding a new furry family member to your mix, please contact Diedre Pratt at diedrepratt@yahoo.com.
She and her family have been caring for the puppies who have had their first round of shots and are available to go home on Friday, January 9. They are a black lab mix. The first pic is of Lady herself...

THE FIRE
As if my fiance and I don't already have a lot on our plates right now, we encountered a little "mishap" yesterday morning. It was Monday morning as usual until I discovered that my shower wasn't getting hot. Hmm. Patrick then realized that the water heater pilot light had gone out so once lit, we would be back in business. Soon enough, I was off to work...or so I thought.
I had to turn around bc a HUGE 5-car wreck was blocking the intersection. After turning around, I called Patrick but he didn't answer. Naturally, I called another 2 times. :) [I'm allowed to be stalkerish bc he is officially my fiance.] Still heading in the direction of home, I finally got a hold of him, when I hear: "Omg, I think I started a fire!" (Well, he actually didn't but our faulty water heater did!) I'm sure you can imagine my reaction - calm, cool and collected, right? Wrong. As I was screaming for him to call 911, I kept thinking that our house was going to burn down.
Picture this: I am racing against time to get home and "help," stuck at a stoplight when I hear the fire engine sirens blaring all the while knowing they are going to my house and my fiance is NOT ANSWERING THE PHONE. Little did I know, he was busy putting it out thanks to our Ozarka water bottles. [I will be writing them a thank you note soon for such a fabulous water dispener creation.] As I pull into the neighborhood, I see smoke pouring out of a mini chimney thing on our roof...and Patrick. The first thing out of his mouth was: "I put the wedding invitations in the guest room!" And as Sheri says, at least that boy has his priorities straight! :)
Apparently smoke was coming out of our fireplace into the house...and guess what was stuffed, sealed, stamped and ready to be delivered on the floor right in front of it? Our invitations. THANKFULLY Patrick didn't get hurt. THANKFULLY our house didn't catch fire. THANKFULLY our pups are safe. THANKFULLY...our invitations survived. Somehow, an evite isn't my idea of a wedding invitation.
Fortunately, the firemen arrived no sooner than after I cleared a path for them to traipse through the house. [I really did have to move my piles of Christmas decor - including my fabulous front porch reindeer - to make way for the men in yellow and red. Please note: the fire wasn't "raging" at that point, so I had a bit more time on my hands, people.] And after all was said and done, a firemen said to us that Patrick had truly saved the day with such quick thinking. Aw, my hero!
3 fire engines, 1 fire chief and 1 very scared Chihuahua later, the fire mishap was officially over. We are truly blessed to have escaped unharmed and give thanks to the Lord, and to St. Jude, for our protection.
For your viewing pleasure, Patrick managed to snap a photo with his phone.
