TO LOVE LIKE THAT

We celebrated the anniversary of what would be sister Charlotte's 1st birthday on February 3.  At mass that morning, we carried the gifts, a first for our family and with honors, as the Knights of Columbus lead us with their "pirate" swords, you said.  Additionally, you were adamant about carrying the Host, so we walked slowly while Mommy helped with a guiding hand.  As we got close to the altar, Father famously said, "take your time," as you proudly took the last steps with Host in hand.  I couldn't help but smile then or after communion when you cried, "commmmmmuuuuuuunion!"  It's not easy waiting, is it?

Following mass, we released balloons at Charlotte's Garden.  In the sea of pink and white, one got away early, but it was the red one and the one which signified the anniversary of her 1st birthday.  We watched it float away and then slowly released the rest as we called out watching them work their magic in the sky before floating to Heaven.

You cried when it was time to leave and said, "I don't want to leave!" You have our hearts, little man.  You explain that Charlotte lives "with Heaven and God" and I adore that, just as you so proudly wear her memory carrying her in your heart and mind.  And yet another gift from you was having kissed a balloon to send to Char Char in Heaven.  There's something to be said about a 2 and a half year's old heart that makes your own a humble one.

It was a day of days and one which we joyfully celebrated the goodness that is Charlotte and the graciousness that is Him.  God is good.
