Kauai, Round Two

Round Two...

patrick posing in front of waimea canyon, the grand canyon of kauai.

...and one of me!

at the luau

unearthing the pig ceremony before dinner.

patrick and his friend.

smith's tropical paradise...our luau

my FAVORITE dinner on the island was at keoki's paradise. talk about the yummiest of yummy. i may have eaten more steak in hawaii than i do in TEXAS, in a year.

at our hotel before heading off to breakfast.

clearly, the snorkel enthusiast.

i did snorkel, only later. the water was too cold in the morning!

poipu (poy-poo) beach - our absolute favorite beach area was near the sheraton hotel.

spouting horn. named especially bc it spouts water every so often when a strong enough waves comes.

yea - another pic of us...finally! the majority of our photos are of one of us or landscapes so i really love any photo we could get of the 2 of us together!

a view from poipu beach.

a monk seal resting on our beach. it's totally common for them to beach themselves and sleep for hours to restore their energy. and because they're endangered, beach goers give them their space although that sure didn't stop anyone from using those lenses!

too cute!

patrick and his puka dog in front of the puka dog hot dog stand. it was featured on the travel channel's best food stops and patrick nearly drove off the road when we saw it! i had a bite - or two - of patrick's and it was good. ps - we weren't the only weird ones taking a picture holding a hot dog! there were 2 cuties waiting behind us too.

i love this pic of patrick.

and this one too!

even the chickens love the beach.

a chilly morning walk on the beach.

sunrise from our room

friday pasta dinner at portofino's italian restaurant.

this is a hysterical "weather station" sign we came across after dinner.

we attended Ash Wednesday mass at Immaculate Conception. it was so beautiful there. and just like the rest of hawaii, everything is open and airy - such great weather and a beautiful view over the hill the church sat on.

a small chapel

about to board our helicopter to take a tour of kauai.

so pretty despite the helicopter windows being in the way!

the grand canyon of kauai - waimea canyon.

this is a coffee acreage and all the green are coffee plants.

another view from up high.
when can we go back?!
